Harkey Elected Vice-Chair of NCBA Criminal Justice Section

Winston-Salem attorney W. Scott Harkey was elected Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section for 2022-2023. This will be Harkey’s third consecutive year on the Executive Committee for the section, where he served as Council Member from 2017 to 2020.

NCBA Criminal Justice Section

The Criminal Justice Section, one of the largest in the NCBA, is dedicated to helping North Carolina criminal lawyers better serve their clients. The section is made up of 6 officers, 13 council members, and 11 committees. The section annually hosts the Peter S. Gilchrist and Wade M. Smith Awards Banquet to recognize the career accomplishments of a prosecutor and defense attorney from North Carolina. The section provides CLE opportunities and proposes legislative initiatives in areas impacting North Carolina criminal law.

About the North Carolina Bar Association

Founded in 1899, the NCBA is the largest voluntary organization for legal professionals in North Carolina. The NCBA is a service organization for legal professionals that provides continuing legal education, legislative advocacy, practice management support, and other opportunities for North Carolina legal professionals. 

About W. Scott Harkey

W. Scott Harkey is an attorney and managing partner for Harkey Litigation in Winston-Salem, NC who has been practicing criminal law since 2012. He specializes in white-collar criminal defense for individuals facing state and federal investigations by authorities such as the FBI, Department of Justice, SBI, and other local agencies. A former special prosecutor and Board-Certified Specialist in North Carolina criminal law, Harkey routinely handles other complex serious felony matters in North Carolina state and federal courts.
